20 Scriptures to Overcome Anxiety

Real talk. Anxiety can affect even the most faithful Christian woman.

It’s been almost two years since my mom died. During this grieving process, anxiety has reared its ugly head. And it’s incredibly annoying. Who wants to feel like your heart is about to beat out of your chest or that your skin is actually crawling?

If you’ve suffered with anxiety you know it also comes at the worst times…

My mom died of ALS, and I had the honor of spending the better part of six months helping my dad with her care. It was during this time that I started having panic attacks. Watching my mom suffer was overwhelming, and my body couldn’t handle the stress.

It was during this time that I realized the power of Scripture to help me calm down. When I found my heart starting to race, I immediately began quoting Scripture. The Scripture I remember saying over and over and over was, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” Psalm 56:3.

While my anxiety is not completely gone, I can say that quoting Scripture is my first response at the first sign. I hope you find these verses as helpful as I have.
