Daily Devotional- John 6: How Do I Know I'm Saved?
Have you ever questioned your salvation?
Though you wouldn’t dare say it out loud, are there times you have nagging doubts you’re not “really” saved?
Maybe you’ve questioned if you can lose your salvation?
The beauty of God’s Word is that the Gospel is clear. You can know without a shadow of a doubt whether or not you are “really” saved.
Questions To Ask Yourself To Know If You Are Saved
Do you believe you are sinner?
Do you believe that sin violates God’s holy nature and places you under His divine judgement?
Do you believe there is heaven and there is hell?
Do you believe that God loves the world and offers them (you and me) forgiveness and salvation? (The Good News!)
Do you believe Christ was born of a virgin, fully God and fully man, and lived a sinless life?
Do you believe Christ bore your sin on the cross where he died?
Do you believe God raised Christ from the dead?
Do you believe placing your faith in Christ alone is the only way to eternal life?
Have you repented of your sins and placed your faith in Christ alone?
If you answered yes to all the questions, then take great comfort in John 6: 37-40.
“Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. This is the will of him who sent me: that I should lose none of those he has given me but should raise them up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him will have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
God’s Word is clear. And praise God! His Word trumps any fears or feelings we have.
If you didn’t answer yes to all 9 questions
I’d be remiss if I ended this devotional without addressing those who didn’t answer yes to all 9 questions.
If you didn’t answer yes, I strongly encourage you to reach out to a pastor at church, or a believer in your life. You can also check out this article that goes through the steps in more detail of how to become a Christian.
While it’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of the day, never lose sight that your salvation is THE MOST IMPORTANT part of your life.
In the words of Penn Jillette, a self-described Atheist,
If you believe that there’s a heaven and hell and people could be going to hell or not getting eternal life or whatever, and you think that it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward...
How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that? If I believed beyond a shadow of a doubt that a truck was coming at you and you didn’t believe it, and that truck was bearing down on you, there’s a certain point where I tackle you. And this is more important than that.”
Prayer for Today:
Dear Lord, thank you for salvation. Thank you for your grace and mercy that we can be washed whiter than snow and be assured that through your Son we have eternal life with you. Let us never lose sight of the gravity of what you did for us. Give us boldness and opportunity to share the Good News! And may we walk in the confidence that though we fail, You never do.
